About Franklin & Marshall 2,400 students with a Four Year Residency Policy The Need to Educate Students of the Expectation of an F&M student Approximately 750 students living in off campus spaces (some in row homes on perimeter of campus) intermingled with members of the Lancaster community Students living on campus that leave campus to attend parties in off campus spaces need to be educated
Neighborly How do we educate students to be better neighbors? Mandatory Responsible Resident Program held by Director of Housing in the Spring semester prior to the Room Selection Lottery Who attends? Rising juniors planning to live off campus. What do they learn? Techniques to be a better neighbor, awareness of those around that are non-students, etc.
Community Advisers Who are they? Hand picked by the Director of Housing - former HA or a recommendation from a coach or staff member Where do they live? In the larger off campus apartment buildings Building a sense of Community among students Take pride in your living spaces Know your neighbors
Mandatory Party Registration Any private party of 20 or more – both alcohol and non-alcohol Attend one party registration meeting per academic year What do they learn? PA Hosting laws, safety tips, Party Registration Form must be submitted in person Two alcohol hosts, age 21 – Two party hosts, any age All 4 must remain sober prior to and during event Pre-party check by Public Safety 30 mins prior
Mr. Rogers always looked for Helpers The Housing Director – THD – to manage data Public Safety Officers Community Advisers Coaches of Athletes Neighbor Reports – Positive and Negative Communication with Students after the event Party registration is reviewed by administrator for potential issues that can be managed prior to the event.
