Coaching History Coached Girls Basketball for 11 Years Varsity Coach at Belding High School for 4 years Implemented Sponsorship and Fundraising Program: New Uniforms, Travel Gear, Warm Ups, Back packs Established a Brand and Style of Play: TOGETHERSTRONG Built a Feeder Program: THE ROCK PROGRAM Established a WINNING Culture: District and Conference Championships both of which had not been done in over a decade, similar to our current status at RHS

3rd – 6th Grade Parents Community Ed! What?: It is a local girls basketball league that takes place here in Rockford through community ed. They practice once per week and play games in Rockford on Saturday mornings Contact: 616.863.6322 When? Teams Practice once per week beginning October 23 Games are played on Saturday Mornings beginning November 4th through December 16

Why Community Ed?? Parents have an opportunity to work with their daughter through coaching Games are officiated by girls in the high school program, wonderful role model opportunity! Girls have the opportunity to make friends in the community! High School staff has the opportunity to establish relationships with the youth Players work on basketball skills through real game experience Question? Can I still take the girls to play in Tourneys at the same time?

Skills Clinic: October 9th Skills Clinic at the High School on October 9th 3rd and 4th grade is 6:00-6:45 pm 5th and 6th grade is 7:00-7:45 pm WHY? At the skills clinic our varsity coaching staff will evaluate and rate each player. The purpose is to divide the players up evenly to bring parity to the league.

Parent and coach expectations Our HS athletes are NOT registered officials! This program is meant to be FUN! Parents, coaches and other supporters who yell at, intimidate or otherwise create a toxic environment for the players and or officials will be asked to LEAVE

The rock program Information for the 3-6 grade Rock Program will be passed out during the community ed league There will be a tryout date, my hope is that there will be NO cuts, and we can field up to 3 teams per grade Each player will be placed in the appropriate league and or tournament based off their current skill level Throughout January, February and March the teams will practice 1-2 times per week. The kids will all receive uniforms and a shooting shirt The cost will be approximately $300.00. That costs covers uniforms, long sleeve shirt, leagues, tournaments and practice gym time expenses

Why the Rock? For serious players who have the goals of playing at the next level Coaches are hand picked, and are updated on the program offense and defense Players play with the most skilled players in their grade, and their role may change Travel Experience Tough Competition Exposure The more you play, the better you will get!

7th and 8th Grade Parents Tryouts for The Rock are TOMORROW, October 3rd at the High School lower gym from 7:00-8:30 My hope is that there will be NO cuts, and we can field up to 3 teams per grade Each player will be placed in the appropriate league and or tournament based off their current skill level Mid-October, November and December the teams will practice 1-2 times per week, and play games The kids will all receive uniforms and a shooting shirt The cost will be approximately $300.00 That costs covers uniforms, long sleeve shirt, leagues, tournaments and practice gym time expenses At the conclusion of The Rock Program, the kids will play their Middle School season through NRMS or ERMS in January, February and March

Try outs information You MUST register: forms are here, and will also be at the door tomorrow Players will be given a number written on their hand on arrival, get there early! Middle School and High School Staff CANNOT run the tryout, or coach more than 4 at a time until Nov 6th per MHSAA My varsity players will be at each basket. They will have a clip board and will be rating each girl at each station with a score of 1-5 Mitch Lyons will be demonstrating the skills and rotating the girls

Stations The Stations will be: Layups, Dribbling, Shooting, 1 on 1 and 4 on 4 I will get the scoring sheets from the girls and average out all the scores Ultimately it will be me, and me only that will make decisions on teams I will seek out advisement of youth and middle school coaches for any other additional information I can get on the tough decisions I will be the ONLY person fielding questions on scoring concerns or the process of picking teams Results will be posted on our basketball web page www.rockfordgirlsbasketball.com

Contact Once the teams are posted, you will be contacted by a coach within a few days with the game and practice schedule Coach Wilson: bwilson@rockfordschools.org
