Cantre’r Gwaelod Webquest

Introduction The story of Cantre’r Gwaelod has been part of welsh legend for thousands of years. Some people think it is a true story while others think it is a myth. This webquest will provide you with the evidence you need to make a reasoned decision as to which theory you believe to be true. Work with a partner to complete all the tasks before you make a decision on your preferred theory, you will have to contribute to a class debate on the subject so be open to any views expressed on the issue by others to inform your own views. Process Look at the evaluation page to get an idea of what the teacher will be expecting in each task. To complete the tasks appropriately will take a number of sessions and must not be rushed. Share out the work to ensure you get it completed. Meet regularly to check on progress. Remember you audience in order to pitch things to the right level. Tasks Task One Task Two Task Three Task Four Look at all the evidence you have available about Cantre’r Gwaelod make a list of all the things you believe to be true facts about the story. Your partner must make a list of what you considered to be the myths surrounding the story. Present your findings in an interesting way. Task Two From the evidence you have draw a map of Wales as it was in the time of Cantre’r Gwaelod Task Three Produce a tourist brochure or poster to encourage visitors to explore the myth of Cantre’r Gwaelod. Task Four Explore another welsh myth or legend ,present it in a way that younger pupils will understand and again list what you think is fact and what you think is myth.
