Presentation transcript:

Deforestation Project Justin Richard, Vasyl Byrych Period 1 Physical Science Friday, March 24th, 2017

Description & Explanation “Deforestation is when humans remove or clear large areas of forest lands and related ecosystems for non-forest use.” Carbon dioxide - it increases where there is deforestation. Deforestation has an effect on the carbon cycle concerning the greenhouse gas effect and global warming - trees balance the amount of carbon in the atmosphere by photosynthesis, but deforestation prevents this and heat is trapped. Deforestation deals with the fast track.

B. Identification & Description Deforestation harms carbon sinks (especially forests) because it impairs their ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere due to less trees. Short term effects include decrease of biodiversity, decrease of soil quality, increase of soil temperature, soil erosion, and nutrient runoff. Long term effects include increase of regional temperature, increase of carbon dioxide, spread of disease from birds and insects, differing migration patterns of birds and insects, and damage of nearby crops.

C. Revisions on Poster Model The alterations should be placed by the land plants. It should represented by cut off trees or logs. From Land plants to the Atmosphere. Carbon dioxide (CO2) the process moving it the carbon is first in forest by precipitation.
