GHINDENI SCHOOL ROMANIA

Ghindeni School is located in Dolj County, in the South-West of Oltenia region, Romania.

Dolj County Located in the south- western part of Romania, Dolj County is crossed from the North to the South by the river Jiu, actually bearing its name, Doljiu means ‘Lower Jiu’. Population in this area is around 700 000 inhabitants living in two cities, five towns and 104 villages.

GHINDENI VILLAGE People have different traditional occupations, many of them being involved in agriculture. Ghindeni is a village having around 2000 people. It is situated at 17 km from Craiova, the main city in Dolj County.

THE SCHOOL The students learn in two buildings: The kindergarten has a space in the building of the village hall. The primary and gymnasium are located in another building which was made with the help of the community and finished in 1974.

THE KINDERGARTEN Children can start kindergarten when they are 3 years old and they can stay until they are 6 years old. Ghindeni kindergarten has around 50 children divided in two classes.

Primary level The school has about 130 pupils, with ages between 6 – 15 years. There are four teachers for the primary level and 12 teachers at the secondary level.

Secondary level The pupils in secondary level are divided in four grades. They are taught Mathematics, Romanian Language, History, Geography, Art, Foreign Languages (French, English), Music, Sports, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Introduction to computers, Technology, Latin and Religion.

Extracurricular activities The teachers and students of Ghindeni School are involved many extracurricular activities such as partnerships with other schools and cultural institutions.
