Science Social Studies

Tiger Time Data driven and differentiated instruction based on grade level standards and expectations Instruction will align with PES targeted areas of growth as well as the PA Core. No specific grade will be given in Tiger Time on the report card, but items will be graded and given to the ELA or math teacher for inclusion with report card grades.

4th and 5th Grade iPad Information

iPad Distribution Nights will be held at NASH Grade 5 - September 14th at 6:30 p.m. Grade 4 - September 19th at 6:30 p.m. Check your email for: Information on our insurance coverage Please accept or decline insurance coverage prior to the Distribution Night. iPad User Agreement Bring the signed copy of the User Agreement to the Distribution Night. Information can be found here: www.northallegheny.org/FOCUS2020 If parents can not attend, make up dates will be held at the individual schools. Information on these make-up dates will be in the school’s main office.

More than one child receiving a device? Attend the Distribution night (suggested that you attend the program for your oldest child). Bring all signed User Agreements (one per child). Be sure to accept or decline insurance coverage for each device that will be received. Parents will take home the device of their oldest child. The devices for younger children will be delivered to your child’s school the morning after their grade level Distribution Night. There will be a table at each Rollout Night for parent to drop off their forms.

Student Boot-Up Camps Grade 5 - September 15th These sessions will be led by your child’s teacher and the school’s Technology Integrator. Students will learn: iPad Expectations for classroom and home use Process for requesting technical assistance at school Digital Citizenship (responsible use)

Band, Chorus, & Orchestra Rehearsals Elective classes - not required Students who are not at a rehearsal will be… participating in extension/remediation activities working on special projects Students who are not at a rehearsal will NOT be… scheduled for study hall-like periods Band and Orchestra students need to bring their instrument music every week. Chorus students need to bring their music every week. Band – Thursday @ 1:45-2:30 Chorus – Wednesday @ 1:45-2:25 Orchestra - Thursday @ 1:45-2:30

Band & Orchestra Lessons Lessons began on Thursday, September 14th . Schedules have been distributed by Mrs. Funk & Mr. Kraus Students are to attend their lesson every week They are to bring their instrument and music every week May leave for their lesson five minutes before scheduled lesson begins Band and orchestra students are required to make-up any work missed while attending their lesson – “What I Missed”

PES ROCKS PES ROCKS = Respect Others Choose Kindness Extension of school-wide kindness & diversity in place School-wide image of a rock PES rock, classroom rock, individual rock – all connected and create a path to kindness and respect PES ROCK Stars- students recognized for over and beyond behaviors that help make PES ROCK Weekly meetings held with students Marvelous Mondays 9:00-9:20 New playground area- Kindness Korner- area to find a friend and play

Attendance Student absence – Teacher codes in Tyler PARENT MUST HAVE A NOTE TO EXCUSE ABSENCE THE NEXT DAY 10 day letters and 18 days letters – doctor’s excuse could be needed 3 unexcused absences - Letter sent –meeting – School Improvement Conference scheduled 6 unexcused absence - continue 3 unexcused and referral conference scheduled in addition to CYF referral

Parent-Teacher Conferences Online sign-up *No sign-ups will occur during curriculum night E-blast will be sent to notify when available and open to families Information will be posted on teacher’s websites to access sign-up

Social Media Permission to use student’s photographs will be included in code of conduct form Families will still need to sign off on form Photographs will now be extended for use on Facebook and Twitter Showcase PES and all the wonderful things we do each day No personal information of students will be disclosed

Bus Notifications PES is pilot school for new procedure to ride a different buses home – DAYCARE ONLY PARENTS MUST SEND A NOTE TO HOMEROOM TEACHER WITH BUS # TO RIDE HOME PES will have new procedure to then follow to notify bus garage of changes Students will get a pass to take with them on their bus to notify bus driver of change
