Purpose “College Writing & Research will teach students ways to write more effectively by using correct grammar, sound logic, and persuasive rhetoric. Together as a class, we will read and discuss writings by different authors, but student writing will be the primary focus of the class. Through prewriting techniques, writing, revision, reading, and discussion, we will analyze the relationships between writing and thinking. The course also introduces research techniques, including the use of the library, the conventions and principles of documentation, as well as evaluation and integration of sources. Students should expect to read and write outside of class meetings; to participate actively in class; to write and revise their work; and to speak constructively about the work of fellow students.” –WCC Catalogue “We’re going to research a bunch of stuff and write some essays.” –Mr. Cooper
