The Global Mosaic Initiatives and Group Entrepreneurship program drive social change through collaboration Ashoka mission Ashoka seeks to build an innovative, productive and globally integrated citizen sector by investing in social entrepreneurship Ashoka strategy Global Initiatives and Group Entrepreneurship program develop patterns for effective collaboration among social entrepreneurs to collectively change fields: Environment Learning Economic Development Healthcare Human Rights And leverage senior social entrepreneurs through the Academy Support social entrepreneurs, their ideas and institutions Venture focuses on supporting individual entrepreneurs and their social change ideas Additional Ashoka programs are establishing a foundation for a competitive citizen sector Citizen Base Initiative Business-Social Bridges Social Financial Services Create “more than the sum of parts” communities Design a new infrastructure for the citizen sector

                                                                                                                  Global Initiatives combine fundamental insights and initiatives of Fellows to “tip” fields Initiatives goal Fundamentally change societal views and approaches in field after field by demonstrating and spreading the collective systems-changing ideas of the Ashoka community Approach Individual Fellows Develop a critical solution fitted for a given society and system Global Initiatives Combine these powerful ideas to see broader patterns that can change a field, and then spread these collective solutions to key actors in the field The Global Initiatives act as a multiplier of innovation in the field by catalyzing group entrepreneurship

Group Entrepreneurship mission Group Entrepreneurship vision: Accelerate social change through the collective action of social entrepreneurs Group Entrepreneurship mission Group Entrepreneurship strives to foster an interactive community among Ashoka Fellows that breeds high-impact collaboration for social change. We do this by developing tools that enable Fellow engagement and collective action. Group Entrepreneurship goals Ashoka Fellows and others interested in social impact use the Fellowship as a resource for solving problems and advancing their work Collaboration among Fellows and partnering institutions leads to positive transformation within particular fields and to an overall more effective social sector

GE activates the global network of Ashoka Fellows through a cycle of engagement, collaboration and collective impact 1 Cultivating community Group Entrepreneurship introduces Fellows to the global Ashoka network. It provides tools for communication/exchange and resources for Fellows to advance their work 2 Encouraging collaboration Group Entrepreneurship offers funding and other support to promote collaborative activities among Fellows Engagement Collaboration Impact 3 Enabling collective impact Group Entrepreneurship leverages burgeoning Fellow communities to develop global thematic Initiatives capable of transforming business as usual in specific fields—e.g. learning, human rights

Law for All mission The Law for All Initiative seeks to spread the collective learning and innovations of the Ashoka community to ensure that historically marginalized populations will have equal access to social, political and legal recourse.

‘Group Entrepreneurship’ Ideas Mental Health Collaboration Ratnaboli Roy and Bhargavi Davar, India Advocating rights of the mentally ill by consolidating a national advocacy platform on ‘Access to Justice for Persons with Mental Illness’ Aiming to formulate a Bill of Rights for persons with mental illness. They are involving other likeminded Fellows & stakeholders from the mental health movement in India to partner with them.

‘Group Entrepreneurship’ Ideas Governance, Policy & Planning Arvind Kejriwal, India is using the Right to Information Act to combat corruption in governance. The AJW on RTI helped engage other likeminded Fellows to use this effective tool in their respective advocacy campaigns. The w/shop helped create regional hubs across country with different Fellows playing the lead roles for their regions. Led to a Nation wide campaign in partnership with a leading newspaper on ending corruption with information camps being organized all over the country.

Advocates for Social Entrepreneurs (ASE) Facilitating & Enabling Strategic Partnerships Advocates for Social Entrepreneurs (ASE) It provides a vehicle through which highly skilled and experienced attorneys can provide volunteer legal services to Ashoka community. Provide an online knowledge center for archiving and distributing relevant laws, briefs, form documents and other pro bono legal materials. Ashoka offers its Fellows an opportunity to secure pro bono legal assistance that will enable them to address their legal needs. ProBono.Net – Providing the technical expertise and strategy for the ASE website which creates a knowledge management tool for lawyers and social entrepreneurs to contribute and find pro bono legal materials International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP) – Supporting social entrepreneurs through pro bono legal assistance from high quality American and European senior lawyers. Lex Mundi – Lex Mundi is a prestigious global network of indigenous, independent law firms that are supporting Ashoka Fellows with pro bono legal assistance.
