CTE EA SKILLS CHARTS FOR CLASSROOM ENGAGEMENT   EA Wall Chart/Handout is a simple tool to bring E.A. skills into your instructional space. This tool can be used to increase student understanding of skill standards, create common peer-based language, and bridge skills to program content area. Each slide uses the “Meets Standard” definition of each skill as the basic benchmark. Optional Student Activity for Launch of Program Cycle: Have students group into small teams, giving each team a selection of cards from the across the skill sets. Have students work together to deconstruct the meaning of the standards and create their own definitions and descriptions. Though the language may be written in professional language used by employers or instructors, the act of breaking down the meaning will actually increase understanding more than if it were solely given in more rudimentary language. Have students brainstorm how these skills relate to their specific CTE career program pathway Have youth complete the student self-reflection after this exercise so that they have a baseline understanding of the skills before self-rating. Put the completed cards on the wall. Students and instructors can use them as a tool when conducting feedback and reflection. Instructors and peer can use the new language and descriptions developed by students to show variety and complexity of skill meanings. In day to day activity, people can write “post-it props” - Students and instructors can highlight specific student skill successes on post-its and place them on the related card.
