Participants will…   Learn about specific the needs of first-generation students that put them at risk of not succeeding in college. Learn how Dartmouth College Library supported Dartmouth’s first-generation students by collaborating with other student support services to offer an active and meaningful learning experience early in the students’ college careers.

FYSEP First Year Student Enrichment Program Sample Dartmouth Classes authentic classroom experiences with Dartmouth professors prepare the FYSEP students for the challenges and rewards of Dartmouth's rigorous academic expectations Mentor-based Support Network one-on-one peer mentoring from upperclass students Ongoing Workshops and Seminars reinforce the skills learned during the pre-orientation program, tackle challenges in the moment, and sustain the close-knit FYSEP community Fun Social Events Foster a sense of community among scholars and mentors

Adventures in Research Goals: For students to be able to answer the question, “Why would you want to come to the library?”  For students to become familiar with the “faces and places” in the library that can help them.
