IONE Legislative Committee Annual Report It’s been a busy year!!! Advocacy Day in D.C. in May and Advocacy Day in Indy in September. Thanks to the IONE Legislative Committee who responded each time they were called upon for input or action items requiring constituent feedback. Mary, Brian and I are very appreciative of this group. 38 Attendees to the first Advocacy Day at the Capital, Indianapolis, IN. (Evaluation Summary attached). Membership Carla Cox Carolyn Masengale Carrie Woods Cindy Bemis Jill Buttry Kimberly Harper Linda Minton Lori DelVecchio Vickie Stuffle Mary Browning, Exec. Director

Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. Mary and I had the distinct pleasure in attending AONE’s Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. again this year. We were able to discuss Title VIII and the Nurse Research Funding with three of our legislators or their aides. Title VIII has passed the house and senate so funding for nurse education and research will continue. We are unclear as to the amount that was assigned to that initiative. We also had the opportunity to discuss nursing shortages that are currently being felt as well as the projected shortages as the “baby boomers” retire.
