Presentation transcript:

pareidolia- a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus (an image or a sound) wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists, most commonly, faces in inanimate objects.

anthropomorphic/ zoomorphic- resembling human/animal form or qualities.

surrealism- movement which began in the 1920s of writers and artists who experimented with ways of unleashing the subconscious imagination, to reveal the unconscious and reconcile it with rational life.

louise bourgeios- surrealist and feminist sculpture artist whose work concerned the unconscious, sexual desire, and the body.

charlotte kingsnorth- recent graduate furniture designer bringing together vintage furniture frames and fleshy biomorphic upholstery.

campana brothers- furniture and interior designers campana brothers- furniture and interior designers. Their work incorporates the idea of transformation and reinvention, giving preciousness to poor, everyday or common materials.

soft sculpture/upholstery- I will communicate the human form onto my furniture through these means. wood carving- I may also use this technique to communicate human form or to blend the upholstery with the hardness of the wood. repurposing/upcycling- the fabrics, and possibly furniture, I use will be salvaged.

materials- wood textile/leather bronze metal

my furniture- Will be inspired by these themes and influenced by these artists work. I will make my own wooden based furniture or appropriate used furniture. I will use textile/leather to adorn the furniture, in an abstract way, much like soft sculpture.
