Strategize: connect yourself Join the Students for a National Health Program public and private facebook groups Join your region’s facebook group Create a SNaHP facebook page for your institution Follow other student organizations to be in the loop about social justice issues

Recruit: reach out Single Payer 101 or Grand Rounds in house or invited speaker Panel with physicians and/or other advocates "Fix It" or "Sick Around The World" movie screening ‘Values clarification’ workshop Open Forum What is single payer? How might a group of students commit to learning more about more equitable health systems?

Recruit: grow base Email institution’s list serv, including faculty Aim for lunch time Have food but think outside the box Remember, PNHP will subsidize if asked beforehand Pizza??? Have sign up sheet Have an immediate action to get involved Resolution? Proposal? Sign up to speak with Representative?

Recruit: grow base Strategy without action is pointless

Take action Form coalitions! Nurses, public health, and other health professionals Trade unions Social justice groups like WC4BL, Healthcare Now, et al Health lawyers Day at the State Capitol, on The Hill, or “birddogging” Op-eds or letters to the Editor Speak to undergraduate pre-medical society Anything to educate/rally the public

Finally… be prepared Isn’t single payer a gov takeover of healthcare? How will we pay for it? What’s wrong with a public option? What about prescription drug costs? Won’t this lower physicians’ salaries? What about wait times? What will happen to everyone working for insurance or in healthcare administration? It is okay if you do not have all of the answers! Chapter Building is Building!
