Letter from the Chair Dear Candidate, I am writing on behalf of the Governors at Meryfield Community Primary School, Borehamwood to thank you for your interest in the headship vacancy from September 2017. This vacancy arises due to the retirement of our existing Headteacher after eleven highly successful years, which has seen the school expand to two forms of entry which are fully subscribed. The school enjoys a strong reputation in the local community. We are a highly inclusive school and celebrate a rich cultural diversity with families from a wide range of backgrounds. The school was inspected on July 19th 2016 and was judged to be good with many outstanding features. The inspector found Meryfield to be a happy school with a love of learning, and described the children’s behaviour as “excellent”. We are seeking an inspirational Headteacher who shares our belief in children’s potential;, has a passion for learning; a clear vision for raising standards and the ability to lead the school along its continuing journey of success and achievement. The new Headteacher will be supported by a non-teaching deputy, a full-time, non-teaching SENCo-Inclusion Manager, a full-time Personal Assistant to the SLT and a full-time Office Manager. We also have a part-time school councillor. The teachers are hard working, enthusiastic, motivated and willing to try new and creative ideas. They are assisted by a strong team of support staff who have a keen focus upon learning. Our total staff is over sixty, which enables some flexibility in meeting changing needs and allows for strong teams to grow. Governors are aware of the fast changing educational landscape and look forward to working with the new headteacher in building a positive and exciting approach to the challenges which lie ahead of us. I realise that there are many demands upon your time, but hope that you will be able to read our Ofsted report, look at the school website at http://www.meryfield.herts.sch.uk/welcome/ and, most importantly, visit the school, we will be delighted to meet you, to show you around and answer any questions that you may have. Please phone the school office to arrange a visit. We will do our best to be available at times that are most convenient for you. The closing date for applications is Friday 3rd March 2017 at midday. We will be short listing on Tuesday 7th March and interviews are planned for Wednesday 22nd March. If you decide to proceed with an application, you are welcome to include a supporting letter which you can use to describe the reasons that you have decided to apply. We will be contacting candidates by letter immediately after the short listing meeting. If you would like to discuss the vacancy with me directly, my phone number can be requested from the school office. I hope that you will decide to apply and look forward to receiving your application.   Yours Sincerely. John Cooper, Chair to the Governing Body. School Office – 0208 953 2106

Our School "Meryfield Primary School promotes a “love of learning” and that “pupils enjoy coming to school, learn well and their behaviour is exemplary.” The staff ‘work in a spirit of partnership with parents’ and that Meryfield has a ‘strong, caring and supportive ethos’…….” Extract from Ofsted Report July 2016

Our School “Pupils develop positive attitudes towards learning. This is due to the calm, nurturing ‘whole-child’ approach that the school adopts towards ensuring that their needs are fully met. Pupils develop a self-assurance and resilience in their time at Meryfield Primary School.”
