Writing Friendly Letters A Write On Activity

Friendly letters have five parts: The Heading  The Salutation (greeting)  The Body  The Closing The Signature

Friendly Letter Uses a simplified block letter format Every paragraph is indented, and has a blank line between paragraphs. Writers address line and signature blocks are lined up to the center or right of center of the paper.

The Body What do you want to say to the person you are writing to? We put what we want to say in the body of the letter. The body of the letter is in paragraph form. The first line of each paragraph is indented. How has your summer been? Not too hot I hope. Did you get to visit your grandparents? Did you go on your trip to Toronto as you had hoped? They say Toronto is a beautiful city.

The Closing The Closing:  In the closing the first word is capitalized and you put a comma after the last word.   Some examples of closings are: Sincerely, Your friend, Love, Very truly yours, 508 Harlem Shake Coolville, Alberta March 25, 2016 Dear Drake, I hope you will be able to come and visit next month.
