The Abbreviated Gospel There is a couple of places in Paul’s letters to Timothy where he summed up the Gospel and eternal life in very short measure. The first one is found in 1 Timothy 3:16.

The Abbreviated Gospel 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up into glory.

The Abbreviated Gospel 1. God was manifested in the flesh John 1:1-3, 14 – Christ is the word and He became flesh and dwelt among men Phil. 2:5-9 – Jesus was equal with God Col. 2:9 – he was the fullness of the Godhead

The Abbreviated Gospel 2. Justified in the Spirit Matt. 3:16 – the Spirit testified at His baptism Rom. 1:4 – declared by the Spirit in the resurrection Gal. 5:22-23 – Jesus demonstrated the fruit of the Spirit John 8:46 – He could not be convicted of sin

The Abbreviated Gospel 3. Seen by angels Luke 2:8-14 – angels announced His birth Matt. 4:11 – ministered to Him in the wilderness Luke 22:3 – strengthened Him in the garden

The Abbreviated Gospel 4. Preached among the Gentiles Acts 10 – Peter preached to Cornelius, his family and friends Eph. 3:8 – Paul preached the Gospel among the Gentiles

The Abbreviated Gospel 5. Believed on in the world John 1:48-50 – Nathanael believed John 6:69 – the apostles believed Acts 8:12 – the people of Samaria believed Philip as he preached and were baptized

The Abbreviated Gospel 6. Received up into glory John 17:4-5 – Jesus prayed for the glorifying from the Father Mark 16:19 – He was received up and sat down at the right hand of God Luke 24:26 – Jesus entered His glory Acts 1:9 – He was received into heaven

The Abbreviated Gospel The first one is found in 1 Timothy 3:16. The second one is found in 2 Tim 2:11-13.

The Abbreviated Gospel 11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. 12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. 13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

The Abbreviated Gospel 1. For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. Rom. 6:3-11 – you are baptized into His death and are alive to God in Christ

The Abbreviated Gospel 2. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. James 1:12 – if you endure you will receive the crown of life

The Abbreviated Gospel 3. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. Matt. 10:32-33 – if we deny Him, He will deny us

The Abbreviated Gospel 4. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. John 3:18 – unbelief condemns 2 Peter 3:10 – God remains ready to accept all who repent Heb. 6:18 – it is impossible for God to lie Heb. 5:8-9 – Jesus is our example of obedience and life belongs to those who are obedient
