Presentation transcript:

The “average” Australian is: 37 years old; lived together before marriage; got married at 31 by a civil marriage celebrant; most probably will not divorce; have 1.9 (increasingly unbaptised) children; live in one of the largest houses we have ever built Carry $3,100 in monthly debts;

loose $931 a year gambling; donate $207 to charity; what’s the number one domestic item in an Australian home? A new kitchen has someone in their family who is chronically depressed. How do we answer the question, “How are you?” “Really busy”, “frantic”, “run off my feet” or “Exhausted”

Enjoys watching American fantasy and science fiction films which are not explicitly sexy, but do have medium level violence and medium level coarse language; on TV we love sport, sitcoms and so-called “reality” and “lifestyle” programmes; chances are they have ready access to soft or hardcore pornography via DVD, on-line or in magazines; We read The Australian Women’s Weekly, Woman’s Day and No Idea;

We like The Da Vinci Code and the Twilight Series; own an Ipod, have three TVs and the Internet at home, and are moving over to pay TV; Don’t read heavy magazines or books; Trust government and media outlets to tell them the truth; Go to Church at Christmas, Good Friday and for hatchings, matchings and dispatchings.
