How do we assess your child’s attainment? STAT Sheffield – continuous assessment S.A.Ts- Reading test- 2 papers Grammar and punctuation test Spelling Mathematics
Teacher Assessment Based on the work the children have done throughout the year Based on day to day assessment Based on more formal assessments during the year. These are done on a half termly basis.
Assessing without levels Government changes in assessment mean that schools are now assessing children’s attainment in a new way. This will now mean that children are assessed to be working broadly below, at or above the expected level for their year group. The assessments are on-going throughout the year. Westerton is now using- STAT Sheffield.
Which tasks/tests will your child do? Literacy -Spelling, grammar and punctuation test -Reading assessment -Numeracy assessment The tasks and tests are used to support teacher assessment
Other Matters We will be having at least one trip in Year 2. This will be a visit to “The Deep” in Hull linked to our Science scheme. There will also be opportunities for special activity days and themed weeks that will be undertaken throughout the school.

General Information Money- Please ensure that any money coming into school is in a clearly labelled envelope with the child’s name, class, amount and what it is for Clothing- Please make sure that every item of clothing that your child brings into school is clearly labelled Please send your child to school with a coat each day as the weather may change Water bottle Jewellery- No jewellery should be worn at school. If it is a PE day and your child has pierced ears they should either not wear the studs or bring their own tape to school to cover the studs
