The Year 4 Curriculum

Homework Normally homework will be handed out on Friday and handed in on Wednesday. Weekly Spellings/Cracking times tables (Wednesday for Wednesday) Weekly Maths Homework. Topic work/additional tasks as required. Homework will be recorded in the children’s planners. YOUR CHILD’S RESPONSIBILITY Reading records will also be checked on a regular basis and books changed. Please, please try to ensure that your child is reading regularly at home and sign record (housepoints are up for grabs!!)

Homework

Homework

Homework You must choose one take away item for homework. The chilli rating suggests the difficulty of the task, or the challenge it might offer. Try at least one Hot or Extra Hot task during the half term! The tasks should be completed in your homework book whenever possible. The higher the peri-ometer, the more housepoints are available. You have 2 weeks to complete each task but remember spellings, reading and maths are weekly! Create a Powerpoint about one aspect of Roman life. Make sure you include backgrounds, pictures and stylish transitions. Print off the pages in contact form (small) and stick them into your book. Bring the Powerpoint on a memory stick so we can view it. Write/type a short adventure story with one main character. Make sure that it has a clear start, middle and end and is interesting. Check spellings and grammar very carefully before presenting the published work. Make a model about a topic we have covered for example a Roman model or shield with explanation text about how it was made or a science model. Make an information sheet about the Romans. Include clear information and illustrations. Can you include a glossary and interesting facts? Write a poem or song describing our current topic. Include key vocabulary to help you remember it. Create 15-20 test style questions to help your classmates revise for the end of the term topic on Romans or the human body. Include the answers. Create a comic strip about one area that we have studied this term. This could be something about the Romans, our RE topic or perhaps even an English, art or maths topic. Make a poster about something we have studied in our RE topic ‘People’. Perhaps it could relate to God’s family or what we have to be like to become part of God’s family. Think about Growth Mindset. Create a piece of writing about this area. Write a character description of one of the characters in your latest reading book. Create 10, clearly illustrated facts about something you have studied in class. Retell the story of the founding of Rome in your own words.
