MALARIA

Smiley faces for parasite Is it an organism? Malaria is a Parasite Smiley faces for parasite   Is it an organism? YES

The female mosquito places her pointed mouthparts into the skin of her victim. The malaria parasite moves to the liver in the bloodstream. The parasite reproduces itself in the liver cells. The parasite moves out of the liver cells and infects the rood blood cells. As the parasite multiplies in numbers, so more red blood cells are infected.

Symptoms Frequent attacks of fever Can eventually cause death if not treated.

Vector How is malaria spread from one person to the next? Vector = moves a disease from one victim to another

Treatments The best way to prevent the spread of malaria is to eradicate the mosquitoes. Larvae live in water One solution is to drain stagnant swamps and pools. Or cover the mosquito breeding grounds with a thin layer of oil to prevent the larvae from breathing 
