Darwin's geology Darwin was trained as a geologist and published books on the geology of the regions he visited on the Beagle voyage.

Darwin's geology Darwin experienced an earthquake in Chile that lifted the land up and left mussels stranded metres from the new shore. In the mountains he found fossilised mussels, showing that the land lifted up gradually. Concepcion, Chile after the earthquake of 1835

Darwin's geology The Galapagos Islands are famous for their amazing wildlife, but Darwin also noted how they were formed by a series of volcanic eruptions, each creating layers of rock. Darwin's plan of Ascension Island in the Galapagos.
