Is the school food really as unhealthy as we think? By: Ashley Sprinkle, Haley Camargo, Madison Flores, and Morgan Stevens ARC December 18, 2013

The Problem Students are complaining of getting “food poisoning” from our school’s food Students are forced to eat a certain amount of fruits and veggies or they are charged more Students are eating lunch everyday and if they believe that the lunches are unhealthy, we need to talk to the lunch ladies about how it is prepared and the choices made to develop it to see if this is true

Research We surveyed about 75 people, and these were the questions asked: On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the healthiness of school lunches? Do you prefer to pack your lunch or buy it? Do you think your lunch is worth the price you pay?

Research Cont. We talked to Karen Smith, the director of the school lunches and she showed us an in depth chart of what goes into the lunches

Results While going through data from the surveys, we realized that most kids believe that the lunch is not good, and overpriced We interviewed Karen Smith, the director over the school lunch and she gave us an in depth description of what exactly goes into our lunch

Results Cont.

Conclusion We came to the conclusion that the school lunch is actually extremely healthy The lunch is at a very reasonable price We aren’t really required to take anything that we don’t want to The “Choose to Take” policy is unknown to many students

Recommendation Karen Smith Announcement Different schools menu Take away specific lunch lines
