Marine Science Honors 1

What is Marine Science honors This is an honors elective meaning that it is not an “easy A class” We cover marine ecosystems and how they relate to other ecosystems There is an EOC at the end of the course 2

Interactive Notebooks All work is found in interactive notebooks. Notebook Checks are done every two weeks on Friday’s They will need a new one subject notebook every 9 week period and they must keep all past notebooks for the final notebook check at the end of the year. 3

Late Work Policy Students have two days to turn in work for half credit After three days it is an automatic zero The can not make up these zeros an I will not chase them for make up work 4

Progress Book and Website Student has a zero I post homework on the website when it is due you can sign up for alerts and get notified if there is homework. On the website I also have a section about what we do in class each day including the “IN” and the “OUT” Ms. Perkins Website! On progress book you can see what students are missing and what they get on assessments, assignments and labs Student did not hand in assignment Assignment has not been entered

Weighted Grades There are three categories of grades and they are weighted Assignments 60% Tests/Quizzes 25% Labs/Projects 15% How is this calculated? 6

Science Fair Is Mandatory for all students unless they are in three AP classes or are in B.I for project lead the way. Will be worth a large part of assignment and project/Lab grades for 1st and 2nd nine weeks Projects must be done at HOME unless they need to use the lab for specific reasons. We will have a help after school session schedule in the next week for students to attend. We have backboards available for $5.00 you can purchase them tonight at the end of open house back to this hallway Students are working in pairs and their projects must have a marine focus! 7
