Sectionals Sliced view of a part or component in a drawing showing its internal make up.

6-13 The drawing is located on the website for Mr. Scott, insert 6- into the document titles. You can also look it up in our Engineering Textbook.

The blue are the measurements listed as diameter (radius is half the diameter). Note the symbol for diameter is a circle with a slash through the circle.). Radius would be a simple “r”. The red indicate the length of the parts, so you need to look carefully at the drawing. You will be drawing a cross section and revolving it 270 degrees to create a sectional drawing of the part. The final step will be to create a front and side view of the part, with the sectional view showing aluminum. Render if you like and include with final drawing.

? Where to start? Calculate the dimensions for the cross section. Yellow. You will need to do the math, note the measurements are in diameter….. You need to think radius and subtract from known dimensions. All measurements come from the center of the part. Green Line

Open a new drawing in AutoCAD and save as Date 6-13 your name (10-15-2013 6-13 tscott) In your student folder… Create two layers: Lines 6-13

Type in (linetype). Open the linetype box and load a center line and hidden line. 1 2 3 4

Open the Properties Tool Bar (type Properties ) Open the Properties Tool Bar (type Properties ). Change the line type to CenterLine, Draw a horizontal line on the paper. Above the X Axis. 2 1 3

Offset the center line 8 up (Radius of the hole that runs down the center).

Create the part on the right.

Boundary the part (select in the center of the part. Region the part (Select the center of the part). Revolve the part (-270 degrees).

3D Rotate the part around the center axis

Submit to tscott@auburn.wednet.edu

Render the part to Polished Aluminum.
