Young animals that are alone Leave it – most animals leave their young when they hunt Do not remove it – this could deduce its chances of survival It is illegal to remove an animal
Young animals that are alone – bears or cougars Do not touch it or get near it Bears and cougars cannot be rehabilitated -------------------------------------------------------------- Removing animals is against the law, and is a Class A misdmeanor (up to one year in jail and a $6,250 fine)
Lets take the animal home and feed it No Feeding the animal the wrong food could kill it Holding animals captive will prevent the animal from developing survival skills Animals will loose their fear for humans, and can be harmful
Birds on the ground Most of the time, you should leave it alone In some cases, you may place it back in its nest. Some birds end up on the ground, in an attempt to fly. They should not be bothered.
Seal pups on the beach Do not get near the thing Stay 100 yards away Keep the dogs on a lease Throw peanuts at it
Other stuff Don’t touch rabbits, raccoons, and squirrels. If a bird hits a window, place it in a box for a few hours, and wait for it to fly away, if it doesn’t, call ODFW
