SUBORDINATE CONJUNCTIONS

Conjunctions Classification COORDINATING SUBORDINATING

What is Subordinate Conjunctions A subordinating conjunction is a word which joins together a dependent clause and an independent clause. Sentence : E.g. I read the paper because it interests me .  Dependent clause – Because it interests me  Independent clause – I read the newspaper  Conjunction – Because

What is Subordinate Conjunctions The subordinate conjunction has two functions :  Function 1: 1) It denotes a change between the two ideas in the sentence. This change will indicate a time, place, or cause and effect relationship. here are some Example: We looked on top of the refrigerator, where jenny often hid a bag of chocolate chip cookies.  Function 2: 2) In this particular function a clause is given more importance. Less importance is given to the clause introduced by the subordinate conjunction. Example: As Samson blew out the birthday candles atop the cake, he burnt the tip of his nose on a stubborn flame.

Read the paragraph I’ve lived in India for the past 10 years. I am not familiar with most of the places although I have been living here for so long. I live in India because my husband works here. As I mentioned earlier I am still unfamiliar with the places here and hence I find it quite tough to live here even after 10 years. I want to be familiar with India before I leave for France. Once I get familiar with the places I would feel more comfortable. I need someone to guide me on how to reach the important monuments in India.
