Self-confidence and self-awareness ELG - Home learning poster This poster can be used to support the development of self-confidence and self-awareness at home, a great resource for parents. www.earlybirdyeducation.com

Self-confidence and self-awareness Don’t be afraid t stand back and le your child attempt a challenge n their own. Allow them to decided when they need to ask for help e.g. tying their shoe laces, putting on clothes, connecting materials together. Encourage children to recognise different people in the environment who help us. When out allow the children with your supervision to buy things at the local supermarket, check out a book in the library, ask for a train ticket at the station. These will enable your child to have real experiences and see their local environment first hand. It will also raise their confidence to speak to others and ask for help. Encourage your child to try new things e.g. new foods, drinks, games, swimming, physical activities. Allow them to explore what they do and do not like ad give them the opportunity to express themselves. Self-confidence and self-awareness Children are confident to try new activities, and say why they like some activities more than others. They are confident to speak in a familiar group, will talk about their ideas, and will choose the resources they need for their chosen activities. They say when they do or don’t need help. Whilst your child in engaged in an activity play along side them and ask questions. ‘Can you show me how you made that?’ ‘what is happening?’ this will allow the children to become engaged in an activity and listen to others at the same time. It will also allow them to become more confident in their own ideas and have the reassurance from a familiar adult to boost confidence. www.earlybirdyeducation.com
