Sigma’s Bookshelf Books

Why Authors Write To inform To inspire To share their experiences To entertain

Traditional Publishing vs. Self Publishing Traditional publishing typically requires authors to secure an agent, and once the manuscript is sold they lose control of the content in their books. $$

Traditional Publishing vs. Self Publishing Vanity presses charge fees for taking authors through the publishing process. With self-publishing, the author retains control and has greater potential for earning profits.

Traditional Publishing vs. Self Publishing Sigma’s Bookshelf is a self-publisher passing on the privileges of self-publishing to teen authors.

Full Print Run vs. Print-On-Demand With a full print run, a pre-determined number of copies are printed then put into distribution. The publisher or author must pay for all the books printed in advance. With print-on- demand, author/publisher orders copies as needed. They are not printed until they are ordered.

How Sigma’s Bookshelf Works Teen authors submit their manuscripts through the website: www.SigmasBookshelf.com Manuscript is reviewed. Teen author is informed of Sigma’s Bookshelf’s decision regarding publication within 30 days.

Three Possibilities 1) Book is accepted, and the author sends over consent to move forward.

Three Possibilities 2) Book is accepted with conditions. Author must first make some suggested edits. 3) Book is turned down with an explanation of the reasons, and recommendations on changes that can be made to make it publishable in the future.

The Book Production Process 1) Manuscript is accepted. 2) Book is reviewed by an editor. 3) Edited manuscript is sent back to the author for final approval. 4) Once approved, book moves into the production phase.

The Book Production Process 5) Once finished, a proof is sent back to the author to review.

The Book Production Process 6) Once approved, work begins to finalize the cover. Authors must submit their own cover artwork.

The Book Production Process 7) Once cover and manuscript accepted, book is uploaded to print-on- demand service and made available for purchase.

How to Order Sigma’s Bookshelf Books 1) Directly through Sigma’s Bookshelf for those who wish to order in bulk at a discount. 2) Through 70 online retailers, including: www.Amazon.com and www.BarnesandNoble.com 3) Orders placed in bookstores.
