The collaborative at an organisational level In one adult acute inpatient ward Patients where failing to return to the ward from periods of leave So the aim was to reduce the number of patients that failed to return by 50 % The ward team and patients where involved in the project The team where taught QI methodology Len Bowers research into preventing AWOL was taken and tested by the team 50% reduction was achieved by the team This has now spread to 6 more Acute wards across their organisation 1 year on the improvement is sustained. Patient care made safer
