Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Walton’s Class This week in: We are learning: Important Reminders Reading: This week, we will be focusing on “Colors and Cats.” Our focus will be mainly on learning the spelling of color words, with an emphasis on the delightful books about cats- many of which are also about color… And, of course, we will focus on the letter /c/. Each day, we will focus on a different color. We began our phonemic awareness practice today. This focuses on letters, the sounds that they make, and rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, and phoneme segmentation. Math: We continue to focus on the numbers 0-6. We practice counting, writing numerals, using counters, and showing various ways to represent numbers. When helping your child with this concept, please note that you don’t need specific counters… Any small object (pennies, pasta, goldfish, cheerios) will do! Important Reminders ~Just a reminder- towels will be sent home every Friday for cleaning. Please return them on Monday. ~Library books were checked out on Friday. Please return them on Friday. ~BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT IS WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT 7! *Please note that there will be occasional Math homework, to support our topic in class. Math homework will be marked with a red “Please complete” pencil stamp. Ideally, these papers will be returned the next day, but I understand if that is not always possible. Please send back to school as soon as possible. *Please send me a note if there is a change to your child’s daily dismissal procedure (if they will NOT be going to Extended…) Week of Sept.11-Sept.15 swalton@stleonardschool.org
