Presentation transcript:

REducing Deaths due to OXidative Stress The REDOXS© Study REducing Deaths due to OXidative Stress Improvement Targets Promotility Agents & Small Bowel Feedings REDOXS patients who receive < 80% of prescribed study supplements, a median of 51% received motility agents and 26% had small bowel feedings. The Canadian CPGs recommend patients who experience feed intolerance (high gastric residuals, emesis), the use of a promotility agent is recommended. In units where obtaining small bowel access is feasible, this should be used routinely. Volumes of REDOXS© Study Supplements Administered It is important to ensure that the full volume of study supplements is administered each day. If there are interruptions, remember the rate can be adjusted to make of for these lost volumes up to a total of doubling the rate for 12 hours. Site Specific ___________________________________________ _________________________________________ High Performance Timely initiation of REDOXS© Study Supplements Our ICU is doing an excellent job with respect to initiating REDOXS© study supplements within 2 hours of randomization Early Enteral Nutrition REDOXS© sites have performed well, with a median time of 20 hours for initiation of enteral nutrition! The Canadian Nutrition CPGs recommend that enteral nutrition be initiated within 24-48 hours of admission to ICU. Site Specific ______________________________________ ___________________________________ Data derived from the first 600 patients randomized to the REDOXS © Study.
