Why Egypt? Timeless Powerful Well organized government Natural resources/barriers Optimistic Society Religion based on maat - justice and order Well structured social hierarchy Had developed trade connections because of location on Nile.

Location Located along the Nile river Deserts around Good farming and crops along river Nile floods regularly Flows north Fresh water source Natural barriers that protected them from invasion Effected the way they lived

Culture Society, peaceful, less violent, optimistic, organized because floods regularly and that leads to less uncertainty Based on religion because there are gods for everything and they need to be happy. Life based on truth and justice and order Religion helped build culture

Religion Polythesistic Anthromorphic Ra - son god - ruler of the gods Osiris - Judge of the dead Isis - goddess of motherhood Horus - Patron god of the entire kingdom

Government Organized society Pharaoh- king imperialistic monarchy considered to be a god (immortal) head of government and religion Priest/government officials Historical Pepriods Achaic period - where it all began Old kingdom - age of pyramids

Social Hierarchy Pharoah vizers high-priest/nobles officials/scribes craftsman slaves, labourers, peasants

Foreign Policy Trade helped the ancient Egyptians gain money and goods they could not produce themselves They imported raw materials such as wood, minerals and other luxury items They exported pottery such as vases, stone, papyrus, ropes and dried fish
