Presentation transcript:

URMC Cold Storage Core The University of Rochester Medical Center maintains a secure and well maintained Cold Storage Core that is available to all investigators. For a fee of $42/month per freezer the Cold Storage Core will: • Monitor your ultra low freezer and conduct annual preventative maintenance. • Have a full time staff person on call 24 hours a day to assist in the transfer of your specimens to our back-up ultra low freezer in the event your freezer fails. • Maintain four back-up freezers to store your samples until your freezer is repaired (additional time based fee may be required for spare freezer use.) All investigators who currently have freezers in the Core will be charged $42/month commencing September 1, 2010. (Note: The $42/month fee does not include the purchase cost of a freezer.) Investigators who do not want to use this program must remove their freezer from the Cold Storage Core. Adding new freezers to the Core will occur on a first-come-first-serve basis. Contact Dr. Dykes if you would like to add your freezer to the Core. Note: Unclaimed materials stored in the Core’s Spare Freezers will be removed and discarded on September 1, 2010. Prevent loss of your samples by either removing them, or by submitting an account number along with the appropriate CSC form no later than August 27, 2010. Note: Current Core users must provide Carrie Dykes with a University Account number before August 27, 2010. Failure to do so may result in removal of your material from the Core. From: Dr. Carrie Dykes, Dept. of Medicine, Infectious Disease Unit, phone: 3-4104, email: carrie_dykes@urmc.rochester.edu Dr. Edward Puzas, Sr. Assoc. Dean for Basic Research, phone 5-3664, email: edward_puzas@urmc.rochester.edu
