Hyperbole

Hyperbole An exaggeration is so dramatic that no one would believe the statement is true. example: He is older than the hills

Hyperbole hyperbole is often used in poetry, and is frequently encountered in casual speech. Here is a poem that uses hyperbole: Appetite In a house the size of a postage stamp lived a cat as big as a barge. His mouth could drink the entire river You could say it was rather large For dinner he would eat a trillion beans And a silo full of grain, Washed it down with a tanker of milk As if he were a drain.

Hyperbole is frequently encountered in casual speech.

"The backpack weighed a ton." An example of this is: "The backpack weighed a ton." Hyperbole helps to make the point that the bag was very heavy, although it does not actually weigh a ton.

Hyperbole Tall tales are hyperboles. The story of Babe the blue ox is hyperbole!

When Paul Bunyan and his ox babe walked around Minnesota, they formed ten thousand lakes with their footprints. Minnesota has been known ever since as the 'Land of Ten Thousand Lakes.'
