The Wonders of ... Modern Air Dynamics

What is This ?

Excitement at McCarran Airport Las Vegas. A little excitement at McCarran Airport Las Vegas. Looks to be like seven tires on each side and one can only guess how many total tires. How'd you like to do a tire rotation?

The world's largest aircraft (Russian Antonov 225) was there delivering a very large Turkish built power transformer for Nevada Power.

Check out the tires and the people walking around in this picture.

Tornado Aircraft Creates Amazing ‘Cloud’ Effect

A Tornado fighter bomber pulls up, while moving at high speed, causing a stall (a transient high-speed stall). The drop in air pressure around the wings causes the moisture in the air to condense and, in effect, form instant clouds. Jet fighters breaking the sound barrier, particularly when over water, often cause the same effect. In the case of the Tornado, the condition is enhanced by the swing wings automatically moving to adjust for the stall condition.

The Day Everything went wrong!

In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean you can see the Azores Islands; below them to the right are the Madeira Islands; a bit below are the Canary Islands; and further South, close to the farthest western point of Africa, are the Cape Verde islands. The top part of Africa is the Sahara Desert. Note that the lights are already on in Holland, Paris, and Barcelona, and that's it's still daylight in Dublin, London, Lisbon, and Madrid. The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting. Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities lights. This photograph was taken by the crew on board the Columbia during its last mission on a cloud-less day.
