Relating Properly to One Another Who Are You to Judge? Romans 14:1-12

Who Are You to Judge? Know your motive All Christians are not equal vs. 1“…accept the one who is weak in faith…” All Christians are not equal Know your motive

Who Are You to Judge? Martin Luther King Jr; once declared, vs. 1“…accept the one who is weak in faith…” Martin Luther King Jr; once declared, “Cowardice asks the question: Is it safe? Consensus asks the question: Is it popular? Conscience asks the question: Is it right?"

Who Are You to Judge? Respect another’s liberty vs. 3“…one who eats…one who does not eat…” All Christians are not equal Respect another’s liberty

Who Are You to Judge? vs. 3“…one who eats…one who does not eat…” Just because you can do something with a clear conscience, does not mean you have the freedom to do it if it hurts a fellow believer.

Who Are You to Judge? Mind your own business vs. 4“…you who are to judge…” All Christians are not equal Mind your own business We injure each other with our well-aimed verbal gouges over matters that should kept silent.

Who Are You to Judge? All Christians have different approaches vs. 6“…one day above another…every day alike” Consider what is sacred All Christians have different approaches

Who Are You to Judge? Our principle should be: In essentials, unity; vs. 6“…one day above another…every day alike” Our principle should be: In essentials, unity; In nonessentials, liberty; In everything, love.

Who Are You to Judge? All Christians have different approaches vs. 8“…we live for the Lord…we die for the Lord” Living and dying All Christians have different approaches

Who Are You to Judge? Living and dying vs. 8“…we live for the Lord…we die for the Lord” Living and dying All circumstances in life, the routine and the extraordinary, provide tests and opportunities to prove that Christ is Lord of our life.

Who Are You to Judge? All Christians have different approaches vs. 9“…Lord of both the dead and the living ” Christ is the Lord All Christians have different approaches

Who Are You to Judge? All Christians will be judged vs. 10“…why do you judge?....why do you regard with contempt?.. ” Only God is capable of judging with total objectivity All Christians will be judged

Who Are You to Judge? All Christians will be judged vs. 11“…every knee shall bow…every tongue shall give praise.. ” Judgment of believers is coming All Christians will be judged

Things to Take with You and Practice Just because you can do something with a clear conscience, does not mean you have the freedom to do it if it hurts a fellow believer. All circumstances in life, the routine and the extraordinary, provide tests and opportunities to prove that Christ is Lord of our life. Leave the judging to the perfect Judge and as such it will happen at the perfect time.
