Connecting to the Internet ISP (Internet Service Provider) – business that allows customers computers to access the Internet. Examples include Verizon, Comcast, AT&T Modem – Cable Modem, Telephone modem

Connecting to the Internet Fiber Optic Cable Domain Name Server (DNS) - Internet's equivalent of a phone book. They maintain a directory of domain names and translate them to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. This is necessary because, although domain names are easy for people to remember, computers or machines, access websites based on IP addresses.

NAP’s & POP’s POP(Point of Presence) - refers to an access point, location or facility that connects to and helps other devices establish a connection with the Internet. NAP (Network Access Points) – a public network exchange facility where Internet service providers (ISPs) connected with one another in peering arrangements
