Texas Regions Texas is divided up into four Regions: Gulf Coast Region- grassland area, with marshes. Central Lowland (Grand Prairie)- Area with some hills and forests. Great Plains (Panhandle)- Hill Country, with many canyons. Basin and Range- Many Mountains and a high elevation. Texas Regions
Indian Tribes here before 1492! Caddo (Central Lowland)- very good at farming, the name Tejas comes from this tribe. Karankawas (Gulf Coast)- mainly fishermen, some of their bones were found in Houston, Texas. Comanche (Great Plains)- well known tribe, gave the settlers of Texas the most trouble. Apache (Basin)- battled with the Comanche, then later moved into New Mexico and Arizona. Indian Tribes here before 1492!
