Expert Group on Mobility of Young Volunteers Council Recommendation on the Mobility of Young Volunteers across the EU November 2008

5 Main Actions Create opportunities for cross-border youth volunteering Assure quality through the development of self-assessment tools Recognise learning outcomes of voluntary activities through instruments such as Europass and Youthpass Raise awareness and promote youth cross-border volunteering Promote cross-border mobility of youth workers and young people in youth organisations

Expert Group – Kick-off conference Kick-off conference for the implementation of the Recommendation by Czech Presidency in March 2009 in Prague As a result of the conference the Commission set up a Working Group on the implementation of the Council Recommendation

Expert Group - Mandate Facilitate the implementation of the Recommendation by identifying ways and means of cooperation and through the exchange of information and best practices

Expert Group – Achievements - First concrete cross-border youth volunteering project of the Expert Group is currently being developed under the guidance of CZ and D Mapping Exercise on good practices Deepening knowledge on 5 main actions of Recommendation in working groups Engagement of Member States: Invitations of Expert Group to Paris, Prague, Warsaw and Berlin Led to Central Europe Cross-Border Volunteering Conference in Prague + High-level seminar in Berlin, 2011

Next steps - Further development of the Expert Group's cross-border youth volunteering project Continued focus on creation of opportunities and promotion/awareness-raising Synergies with results of European Year Follow-up to Prague conference and Berlin high-level seminar Reporting OMC 2011/2012 including Recommendation ►Commission proposals in OMC Communication 2012 EU Youth Volunteer Portal as part of new EU Youth Portal by mid 2012 Youth on the Move Card
