Mr. Leo Stefanacci Learning Support Teacher About Me: I have been a 7th grade learning support teacher for 23 years in the district. I grew up in Ambridge and currently live in Zelienople. My role in the classroom is to co-teach with the team teacher. We plan our lessons to meet the needs of every student in the classroom! We are actively helping your son or daughter succeed in the classroom!! My advice to you as a parent is to help your child be a self-advocate. A good place to start is to ask for help (raise their hand).

Mrs. Tara Schenck World History Background Curriculum: Early Man to the Fall of the Roman Empire “Essential Questions” (EQs) Ex: How is power defined, used, and transferred in government? Online textbook accessible via SV Grade Portal I generally communicate with you via quick portal uploads (versus many emails). A “zero” on portal always has a comment. EVERYTHING is on my website!

Ms. Janet Becker Strategic Reading Comprehension Strategies: PASS, CRAMP, and SEE Vocabulary Strategies: Prefixes, suffixes, Latin roots, and Greek combining forms

Dean Leventopoulos (Mr. Levo) Science Background Teacher and golf coach at SV for 15 years Life Science Curriculum Hands on learning experience Living organisms and ecology Responsibility is on the students Make up work Website Contact via e-mail

Curriculum Differences Ms. Susan Moury English 7/Advanced English Curriculum Differences English 7 Advanced English Heavy instruction and the analysis of literary and figurative elements will occur during the first semester; however, continued analysis assessments will occur through the entire year. explicit and direct guidance and review with a gradual release of direct instruction Summer assignment and assessment Advance English students are expected to come to the beginning of 7th grade with a thorough knowledge of literary element and figurative language. Advanced English students are expected to be more independent in their analysis; answers on study guides/questions will not be provided prior to the test.

You know you’re in middle school when… … a regular homeroom discussion involves the “personal hygiene” talk. … hyperbole is not just an English term, but a way of life. … the hardest part is learning how to open your locker. … the boys care more about their hair than the girls. … you never have a pencil even though your mom just bought you a whole tree’s worth at Target. … when your parents still go to Open House!
