The matter is in a solid state. The particles are condensed. They move very slowly. It has a defined shape, volume and mass. The matter is in a liquid state. The particles are not very condensed. They move at a moderate pace. There is more space between particles. It has no defined shape, but does have a defined volume and mass. The matter is in a gas state. The particles are freely moving. They move very fast. Particles are far apart. It has no defined shape.
