My Journey Under the Sun Angelina Gallego – NAC/NINE Student 2nd year Physics Department, Hampton University Lory Wingate(NINE), Robert Treacy (Mentor), NRAO
What was I trying to do? A radio jove is an instrument that can measure radio signals from jupiter, the sun, and galactic center. solar observation using my JOVE Kit We built it ourselves, and of course with the help of the Engineering department We used project management to help us through a build process and hub development We learned how to use the programs Radio Skypipe and Radio - Jupiter Pro I plan to help make the Hub at Hampton University even better
The Radio Jove
A Radio Receiver and Antenna Hardware The radio jove receiver 20.1 MHz receiver, 100 internal components, external - amplified speaker The radio jove Dipole antenna 10ft pole and 16.16ft coax cable joined by a power combiner where a coax is then lead to the receiver Software Radio Skypipe Radio Jupiter Pro
Solar Observation (7/24/17) What did I find? Solar Observation (7/24/17) Coordinated Universal Time (UTC time)
What’s Project Management? PMBOK Guide 5 Process Areas of Project Management Initiating Planning Exicuting Monitoring and Control Closing 10 Knowledge Areas Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resource, Communications, Risk, Procurement, Stakeholder
How I Used Project Management to Get There Initiating the Creation of the Radio Jove and Identifying who will be affected by my project Planning the steps in which I would build my radio jove and make observations Building the radio jove and setting up the Dipole antennas Creating a project charter for my NINE Hub at Hampton University
