Using the Supporting Guidance from the Assessment Commission Report

Interim Teacher Assessment (2016 only) Statutory framework only to make judgements at the end of KS1 and 2, not to track progress through the key stage Does not cover the whole curriculum: key aspects only TA should be based on a broad range of evidence from across the curriculum Overall teacher assessment at KS1 must include KS1 SATs outcomes

Framework Three possible judgements based on ‘pupil can…’ statements: Working towards the expected standard Working at the expected standard Working at greater depth within the expected standard Where there is a SAT in KS2 then only one teacher assessment judgement: working at the expected standard.

Principles Assessment in English is about drawing together information to build a picture and make an overall judgement Progress is evidenced by children becoming more consistent, independent and confident and applying in a variety of contexts Different children progress in different ways Assessment processes should be diagnostic and enable teachers to plan next steps and adapt future teaching to meet needs

Revised Assessment grids for writing Removed overall judgement and summary judgement for strands Aligned with interim assessment frameworks Changed the words to make judgements and used different words for spelling Tweaked some of the statements

Coffee

Developing the quality of formative assessment Using elicitation tasks Determining the age related expectations for the sequence Adapting teaching within and between sequences Recording how pupils are doing in relation to ARE Identifying children who are not making good progress
