S65-V: Highlights

S65-V Application Examples

S65-V Application Functions Quality control Object positioning Object sorting Presence control Color coding  OK

Lid presence detection on rotating cans Application Notes Lid presence detection on rotating cans INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Bottling, beverage and liquid MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Can filling machine MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Seal application APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The control of an aluminium seal presence on rotating cans before packaging was necessary, regardless of the different colors amongst which an aluminium-colored model predominated. The can border is detected in order to activate the output only with seal absence or damage.

Detection of semi-transparent objects Application Notes Detection of semi-transparent objects INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Wire production MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Plastic wire-drawing machine MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  End of line APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The sensor controls the quality of the wire to exclude parts with too much or insufficient transparent sections. Green wire with transparent contour

Color detection of distant objects with reflector Application Notes Color detection of distant objects with reflector R8 reflector INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Automotive industry MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Automotive electrical part assembling MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Fuse production control  APPLICATION DESCRIPTION Each fuse has a different color according to its amperage value. The sensor, thanks to the use of an R8 reflector, functions in a through beam mode, obtaining longer operating distances, reliable detection and a good depth of field in the 'C' mode configuration.

Opaque mark detection on shiny surfaces Application Notes Opaque mark detection on shiny surfaces INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Bottling and beverage MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Bottling machines MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Capping enclosure section APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The sensor detects the mark on the champagne bottles in order to stop the bottle in the correct position for successive operations.

Shiny mark detection on opaque surfaces Application Notes Shiny mark detection on opaque surfaces INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Bottling and beverage MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Bottling machines MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Capping enclosure section APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The sensor detects the mark on the wine bottles in order to stop the bottle in the correct position for successive operations.

Color discrimination with slight color variations Application Notes Color discrimination with slight color variations INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Automotive industry MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Automatic assembling lines MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Plastic accessory sorting APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The sensor detects small tone differences of same-colored parts in order to sort each product in the correct assembling line. Color C Color B Color A

Detection of the correct wiring Application Notes Detection of the correct wiring INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Automotive industry MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Automotive electrical part assembling MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Electrical circuit wiring APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The sensor detects the color pattern in order to verify the correct wire sequence. The wire color sequence is transmitted to a PC through the serial interface.

Application Notes Check the color inside a bottle and apply the proper color marking to the cap INDUSTRIAL SECTOR  Bottling, beverages and liquid MACHINERY/PLANT TYPE  Liquid color bottling MACHINERY/PLANT SECTION  Capping and color marking APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The sensor detects the color of the liquid inside each bottle and provides information for marking the color on the cap.

S65-V Sensor Configuration Place the object to be detected Press SET for 2 seconds Click SEL until correct output is displayed Click SET to save setting OUTPUT SELECTION SENSING MODE Click SEL to select C or C+I Click SEL repeatedly to select from 10 levels TOLERANCE LEVEL

S65-V Sensor Programming (1) Action: Place the sensor in front of the color to be detected, typically 20mm; sensor will sample the color to be detected 1) Preliminary operation • Press and hold Set > 2 seconds • Channel 1 (‘SEt1’) is selected by default • Click Select until desired channel is displayed • Click Set to save selection 2) Channel Selection • Click Select to choose: Color or Color + Intensity (Color is the default mode) 3) C or C+I color detection type Device status: Output LED: OFF Output Status LEDs: All OFF Display: C (Color) or C_I (Color + intensity)

S65-V Sensor Programming (2) 4) Tolerance level Action: • Click Select repeatedly until desired tolerance level is displayed;10 levels available • Click Set to save tolerance setting 3) C or C+I color detection type Action: • Click Set to save the selection Device status: Output LED: ON Output Status LEDs: Selected channel ON Display: toL0 (most selective) toL1 (tolerance level 1)..... …….toL9 (less selective) Output LED: ON (if saved) Output Status LEDs: Selected channel ON Display: “updt” (flashing 2 seconds)

S65-V Delay Function 1) Delay setting 2) Turn to operating mode Action: Press Set for 6 seconds • Click Select repeatedly until desired delay setting is displayed (d_00 to d_40) Device status: Output LED: OFF (no target) Channel Status LEDs: All OFF Display: d_00 (no delay) d_05 (5 ms delay) d_10 (10 ms delay) d_20 (20 ms delay) d_30 (30 ms delay) d_40 (40 ms delay) 2) Turn to operating mode Action: Click Set to store settings Device status: Output LED: OFF (no target) Channel Status LEDs: All OFF Display: run (no delay selected) or rund (run delay selected)

S65-V Visualization Setting SEL Press button for 2 seconds to initiate sequential display Sensor configuration can be viewed during run mode To view sensor settings, press Select for 2 seconds or more. The output channel, sensing mode, and tolerance level will then be displayed sequentially, followed by the delay interval (applicable to all channels). At the end of the sequence, the display will indicate ‘run’ or ‘rund’ (depending on the delay setting). Repeat for each channel
