introduction Robots are machines, programmable by an external controller, capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically Robots can be guided by an external control device or the control may be embedded within. Robots may be constructed to take on human form (called humanoids) but most robots are machines designed to perform a task with no regard to how they look.

concept “Robotics” chosen as a theme for science fair 2017 Concept was to learn and create a robot capable of doing multiple tasks controlled by an external device. Main theme was to keep it as simple as possible so that we can actually complete it as well as to include many modern technology elements cyBorg 1.0 is mechanized by servo motors (MG996R) powered by a servo power shield, controlled by an external micro-controller (Arduino Uno), run by an Android Device (Cell phone) connected to the micro- controller by a blue tooth module (HC-05).

In simple words: To control a self built robotic arm from an android cell phone

HARDWARE COMPONENTS The Robotic Arm Built by Hand Using Metal Angles Metal Claw End bearings Assorted screws Motor Mount Frames

Micro-controller Arduino Uno HARDWARE COMPONENTS Micro-controller Arduino Uno Arduino/Genuino Uno is a microcontroller board. It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz quartz crystal, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.

HARDWARE COMPONENTS Bluetooth Module HC-05 HC-05 module is an easy to use Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) module, designed for transparent wireless serial connection setup. Serial port Bluetooth module is fully qualified Bluetooth V2.0+EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) 3Mbps Modulation with complete 2.4GHz radio transceiver and baseband. It has the footprint as small as 12.7mmx27mm.

HARDWARE COMPONENTS Servo Motor MG-996R This High-Torque MG996R Digital Servo features metal gearing resulting in extra high 10kg stalling torque in a tiny package. The unit comes complete with 30cm wire and 3 pin 'S' type female header connector that fits most receivers. This high-torque standard servo can rotate approximately 120 degrees (60 in each direction). • Weight: 55 g • Dimension: 40.7 x 19.7 x 42.9 mm approx. • Stall torque: 9.4 kgf·cm (4.8 V ), 11 kgf·cm (6 V) • Operating speed: 0.17 s/60º (4.8 V), 0.14 s/60º (6 V)

Software elements Arduino IDE Code Compiler Built by hand Codes are called sketches Sketches are uploaded on Arduino using a USB cable Many default sketches are available online which can be adopted Dedicated code has been written for the project. Benefit of the dedicated code is that it can be changed/updated as and when required Robotic arm can be used to perform any desired function as it is controlled by self developed sketch

Software elements MIT App developer Built by hand Android based Bluetooth Terminal App Code instead of GUI to have a better understanding of coding and better control over servos Sketch can be duly changed as and when required as the App is code based and not graphic based.
