Senior Researcher, Dr.Sc.Ing. Information about the project works – possibilities of waste materials/ country resources possible to use for the production of geopolymers Jānis Šliseris Senior Researcher, Dr.Sc.Ing. Project («ELAC2015/T02-0721») kick-off meeting, Krakow, Poland, 11.04.2017

Outline Main natural resources in Latvia Possible materials for reinforcement Physical properties of selected fibers

Main natural resources in Latvia Around 334 m3 timber available for each citizen.

Possible materials for reinforcement Candidates for natural fiber reinforcement of waste: Wood fibers (Pine 49%, spruce 22%, Birch 24%) Cereal fibers (rye, oats, barley, wheat, buckwheat) Rapeseed fibers Main wood products: Lumber (around 60%*)- a lot of saw-dust waste produced! Plywood (around 20%*) Glulam beams CLT plates *data from :http://www.lbas.lv/upload/stuff/201206/kokrupnieciba_2012_pet.pdf
