Language of the Standards Part I: 3 Modes Collaborative Interpretive Productive Strands CCSS i.e. SL.K.1 2 min. Here are the Standards at a Glance Cards – these are grade level specific. The first side (purple, blue, green) is the Part I: Interacting in Meaningful Ways. Notice the three modes: Collaborative Interpretive Productive On the back (shades of orange) is the Part II: Learning About How English Works. Notice the three language processes: Structuring Cohesive Text Expanding & Enriching Ideas Connecting and Condensing Ideas At the bottom is Part III: Using Foundational Literacy Skills Proficiency levels Language of the Standards

Here’s What, So What, Now What? Purple Blue 20 minutes Teachers need their grade level ELD Standards at a Glance cards. We will be in three groups, handouts (colored paper) are on the table. Each group will look at one of the modes of communication, Collaborative, Interpretive, and Productive. We will be using the Here’s What, So What, Now What? Protocol. Green Part I: Making Meaning

Here’s What, So What, Now What? 5 min. Have participants fold paper into three. Label the three columns: Here’s What! So What! Now What? Optional: To help focus groups, you may want to give groups a specific color of paper to record on. Purple: for the group who will focus on Collaborative Blue: for the group who will focus on Interpretive Green: for the group who will focus on Productive
