Weekly Vocabulary List 2 English 3 HN Write Words and Definitions down; keep in your binder!

resolve - verb To decide; determine After failing two driving tests, Candy resolved to pass her third.

providence - noun Divine care or guidance; foresight We trusted to providence that it would not rain on graduation day.

procure - verb To obtain by care or effort Sam set out to procure some dry wood for the campfire.

commodity - noun A product or economic good; an article of trade Our town’s most important commodity is cranberries.

feigned – adj. Fictitious; not genuine The actress was so convincing that it was hard to believe her emotions were feigned.

apprehension - noun Fear of what may happen in the future; anxiety Samantha thought of her upcoming speech with apprehension

copious – adj. Large in quantity; plentiful Copious amounts of food were served at the banquet.

gratify - verb To satisfy or indulge Our walks outside gratify my craving for sunlight.

clamor - noun Confused, insistent shouting The clamor woke Kim from her sleep.

scruple - noun Moral principle that restrains action Without a scruple, Nina stole the motorcycle.

daunt - verb To overcome with fear; to intimidate A visit to the dentist would always daunt her.
