Volunteer Coordination Working Group Develop Working Group Mission and Charter; Recruit Working Group Chair & Vice Chair – Bill Brownlow (Action Item #OR-004-20080430) Working Group Chair Approved: Tom Abernathy Vice Chair: Open Volunteers: George Carbonell, Paul Leary, Charles Werner; Mission, Summary, & Goals (Proposed): Mission: The Volunteer Working Group engages Governing Board members and meeting participants to meet the goals and objectives of NPSTC, its committees, and working groups to further public safety communications on all levels. Members of the working group are appointed by the Working Group Chair.

Volunteer Coordination Working Group Mission, Charter, & Goals (Proposed) (Cont’d): Summary: This Groups purpose is to engage new participants and educate them on the structure of NPSTC.  This group should also teach new participants how they can make a difference within NPSTC and how valuable their skill sets are to the work that NPSTC does at both the national and local levels. Goals: Welcome new participants into NPSTC at each of the four NPSTC Governing Board Meetings Informally interview each new participants to access their skills and interests. Access which working groups would be a good fit for the new participants skills and interests.

Volunteer Coordination Working Group Mission, Charter, & Goals (Proposed) (Cont’d): Goals (Cont’d): Report to the Outreach Committee what new participants skills and interests as well as make suggestion of which working group would be best suited for them. Introduce new participants to various governing board, committee, and working group members so that the new participant feel that everyone within NPSTC is approachable. Collect contact information on each new participant (the SO may already have this information).

Members of the working group are appointed by the Working Group Chair.
