Traveling? Liability coverage travels with you (worldwide) as long as it is a sanctioned OABO activity. Travel Medical (especially for outside of Canada) as organized through OABO. Covers the trip, not just the sport. Many groups now purchasing for travel to other provinces too.

How are Claims Handled? Liability – submit any Letters of Intent or Statement of Claims (lawsuits) IMMEDIATELY to OABO Sport Accident – Notification to Pearson Dunn within 30 days Submit Athletic Accident Claim Form within 90 days of injury to Pearson Dunn Insurance

Frequently Asked Questions What if there is more than 1 liability claim during the year --- is there a cap on the amount the insurance company will pay out? No ‘aggregate’ – cap per policy term. There is a limit per occurrence only If I am ‘officiating’ a pick-up game for my son & his friends am I covered? No. Your policy covers OABO sanctioned activities and does not extend to your personal activities.

Frequently Asked Questions Are Volunteers covered. Yes. Volunteers are covered for liability, not sport accident. If our member was negligent will the insurance company still cover us? Yes. If there has been an error in action you are still covered. As with any insurance policy intentional criminal acts are not covered.

Frequently Asked Questions If I am injured while officiating & require physiotherapy, drugs or an ambulance ride am I covered. Sport Accident policy.

Safety Creating a safe environment needs to be considered BEFORE, DURING & AFTER. EVERYONE is responsible.

Safety Stop play if a safety issue arises Before anyone starts to play a safety review should be done Facility Know your environment Check before starting play. State of the Floor. Is there water on the floor Equipment Nets in good repair, back boards Balls Stop play if a safety issue arises

Safety vs. Insurance Any sport involves an element of risk Safety First…. Always!!! Abide by Ontario Association of Basketball Official’s guidelines. Insurance is never a substitute for safety !!!
